Flexi-MediSave Scheme 2026: Dental Care for Seniors

Dental crowns and root canal treatments are among the more costly dental procedures — and for many, that cost has meant putting off treatment altogether. If this sounds familiar, then you should know about the Flexi-MediSave Scheme.

From mid-2026, the Flexi-MediSave Scheme will allow Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents aged 60 and above to tap on their MediSave savings to offset the cost of permanent crowns and root canal treatments.

The scheme applies at CHAS dental clinics and public healthcare institutions, as a way to improve access to essential dental care for seniors. For the full details, visit the Ministry of Health’s official announcement.

Who is eligible for the Flexi-MediSave Scheme?

  • You are a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident aged 60 and above
  • Your treatment is carried out at a CHAS-accredited and Flexi-MediSave-accredited dental clinic, or a public healthcare institution
Every Denticare clinic is accredited under both the CHAS and Flexi-MediSave schemes.

Wondering what you’re eligible for?

Can CHAS and Flexi-MediSave be used at the same time?

In most cases, yes – both can be applied to the same eligible procedure, helping to bring your total costs down even further.

Simply bring your CHAS card (Pioneer Generation, Merdeka Generation, CHAS Blue, or CHAS Orange) to your appointment. Our Denticare team will take care of the claims process for you.

Do note that claimable amounts and eligibility may differ depending on the type of procedure and the patient’s age, so we recommend checking with our clinic staff ahead of your visit.

It is also worth noting that some co-payment will still be required. While the subsidies can make a difference to your bill, they do not cover the full cost of treatment.

What should I prepare before my visit?

1. Check that your chosen clinic is CHASaccredited and Flexi-MediSave-accredited. View all Denticare clinic locations here.

2. Let our team know that you are aged 60 or above and would like to use your FlexiMediSave for your crown or root canal.

4. Ask your dentist about the expected costs before proceeding, so you can make an informed decision about your treatment.

3. Remember to bring your CHAS card. Our staff will advise whether both your CHAS subsidy and Flexi-MediSave benefit can be used for your procedure.

What does the Flexi-MediSave Scheme not cover?

  • Aesthetic or cosmetic treatments – including teeth whitening, veneers, and orthodontic procedures.
  • Visits to non-accredited clinics – the scheme is only valid at clinics that are accredited under both CHAS and Flexi-MediSave.
  • Patients below 60 years of age – those who do not meet the age requirement are not eligible, though standard MediSave may still apply for certain surgical dental procedures.

Your dental health is worth taking care of

Dental conditions tend to worsen over time when left unaddressed.

A tooth that requires a root canal now could eventually need to be extracted – a more complex, more expensive, and may be a more uncomfortable outcome, particularly for older patients.
